Hi everyone! My name is Amy. Looks like I'm a bit late on the uptake in terms of posting... Anyhow, I'm an incoming freshman at CMC from Albany, CA (it's right next to Berkeley).

I'm on my second week of the fitness packet. Fun stuff right there. But it's nice knowing that I'm not the only suffering... I actually have a question for everyone, related to the fitness packet. I'm going to be backpacking around Europe all of July, and I know from previous experiences that it's rather difficult to find hills (at least where I'm going) as well as tracks to run on. Gyms are even more difficult (for lifting). Any advice?

I hope everyone is having fun, even with the running, and I can't wait to meet you guys!

  1. Hi Amy,

that sounds so fun! i studied in spain for 4 months and travelled around europe for a bit and it was amazing!

I asked Keri for ideas, and she said that if you can get runs in around the hiking that will help. 4 days of running along with the hiking should be good. One run can be easy 30-40min, 2 runs should be fartlek type of 20-30 min., and one should be tempo run (10 min. easy, 10 min hard, 10 min easy- add 1 min hard each week until you get to 15). The hiking with the pack will be like lifting, so you could just add some push ups and ab work when you can. If you wants, you can do body weight squats and lunges if you feel like your legs need more.

I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any other questions and have a blast in europe!!
